I’ve Got a [Cucumber] Crush!

Happy Friday!!

As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, I thought that Cucumber Crush was going to be my least favorite of the most recent In Colors. Turns out, it’s one of my favorites! It’s just so danged bright and cheery! 🙂

I’m usually more of a “Bermuda Bay” girl when it comes to my greens (yes, I realize that’s pretty much a blue LOL) and don’t use a lot of green other than for flower leaves. Anyone else like that?

However, when I was playing with a few new items over the long Memorial Day weekend, I fell in love with Cucumber Crush!

I’m not sure how your crafting process is, but when I need to come up with something original, it happens one of two ways. I sit and stare at my table with the stamp set I want to use and see if something comes to me. I may even stamp an image or two and sit and play with it until my lightbulb moment comes! OR, if I’m lucky, I will get a “vision” in my head (no, no peyote here LOL). Sometimes it’s an entire project (like one I’ll share with you next week, that I consider my “piece de resistance” for that crafting binge weekend I had!) or sometimes it’s just a sneak peek (sort of like a focus in on one piece of a card or project, and the rest is still all blurry).

When coming up with today’s card, I first started with simply knowing that I wanted to create a card with a big bow using the new lace ribbon (have I mentioned that I just love this ribbon?! it’s SO soft!!). That’s it. No other plans for the card. No color scheme, no stamp set, nothing.

Then, as I was away from my craft table, I started to “see” zebra print in Cucumber Crush! Then, I knew just the stamp set! Returning Favorite, Groovy Love! 🙂

I stamped and punched out a few of the hearts (don’t you just LOVE coordinating punches?!) and just sat there, moving them around, playing with them, with the spool of ribbon right next to me. I even grabbed my Hello Life (SOOO happy this carried over from the Occasions catalog!! It is a great stand-alone set, or it has a great Project Kit it coordinates with– still need to get my hands on that one!) to make a border. Not-so-slowly, this card came together! I originally pronounced it done before I added the sentiment, but for some reason, I just wasn’t feeling the white space between the hearts and the ribbon. White space CAN be good, but I just popped the little sentiment (perfectly-sized, even!) from Groovy Love in that space. And it was good! 🙂

So, without further ado… here it is:

I actually can’t wait to make a larger zebra print in Cucumber Crush using the new background stamp, It’s Wild! Whatcha think?!
